The American Board of Pain Medicine is working on rolling out a new process for maintaining certification, known as Continuing Certificaation in Pain Medicine.  It is hoped that more information will be shared later this summer.

The exam will be offered during the entire month of April 1-30, 2026

Applications submitted by 11:59 PM Central time on September 9, 2025 will receive the early filing fee.  The final filing fee will go into effect starting 12:00 AM Central time on September 10, 2025. 

The portal will close at 12:00AM Central time on December 1, 2025 (need to apply by 11:59PM Central time November 30, 2025).

Certification Early Filing Fee: $2,040
Certification Final Filing Fee: $2,340

Kryterion testing centers across the United States, and from home, via webcam proctored testing

Certification: 400 questions over 7 hours. Test can be taken on two separate days in two 3.5-hour sessions or on one day in two consecutive 3.5-hour sessions, pending availability with Kryterion.
